First Lego League Challenge
Note – this activity spans across Extra Curricular Sessions 1 & 2
FIRST LEGO League Challenge is a research and robotics tournament for 11-16-year-old students. It combines the fun of technology and science with the exciting atmosphere of a sports event.
Every year, FIRST LEGO League(FLL) releases a new Challenge, which is based on a real-world scientific topic. Each Challenge has three parts: the Robot Game, the Project, and the Core Values. Teams of up to ten children, with at least two adult coaches, participate in the Challenge all over the world by programming an autonomous robot to score points on a themed playing field (Robot Game), developing a solution to a problem they have identified (Project), all guided by the FIRST Core Values.
After 10-12 weeks of hard work teams attend an official tournament, hosted by FLL Partners.
When all the qualifying tournaments are completed(mid January), FLL publish multiple off-season challenges to engage students and improve their skills until the next season topic is released.
Should any of the teams qualify for the national and European finals, TechSpark will continue to support the team(s).
